Jonathan Grover - Red Push Pull (collaborative) Red Push Pull, 2008; Performance collaboration with Justin Hoover, Anissa Tan, & Peter Focault; live kung fu battle, custom strike reactive vests, projection; 15' x 20'; This live performance investigates the fighter’s body as a tool for alternative sound generation and mark making. Two fighters sparred fitted with custom impact detection vests. The strike of a fighter results in a triggered projection of red or blue depending on which fighter makes contact. The resulting sounds were fed to Peter's robots that created abstract line drawings based on the intensity of the vibrations.
