Born in Cleveland, Ohio. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from The Meyers School of Art at the University of Akron, in Ohio, 2004. He was awarded a Master of Fine Arts degree from the San Francisco Art Institute, in San Francisco, California, 2009. He has worked nationally as a digital artist, graphic designer, illustrator, sound production artist, and teacher. Jonathan has exhibited nationally from the heart of the Midwest to the California coast. He has been published in Creative Quarterly, noted by The San Francisco Chronicle and Bay Area art forums, and received media attention from NBC. Jonathan currently lives and works in San Francisco teaching and creating unique sculptures and installations developed for public interaction. We glimpse outward at the world, self-contained and possessing a unique presence. Mystery surrounds our existence and our purpose. Through interaction with the world, we develop boundaries, form identities, and inscribe meaning. It is our humble presence and the power of our actions that define our space. Utilizing: tactility, sight, and sound as tools, my work engages the spectator directly in their level of participation. This free exchange allows for an experience based on self-determined actions of the individual. In this theatre, the participant becomes the performer paying homage to our existence, exploring perceptions of self to space, and showcasing the meaning inherent of their actions. -Jonathan Grover
